The Position
The Senior Business Development Specialist will be an integral part of the partnership team, working primarily with large and medium-sized businesses and organizations to advance the use of carbon-free accounting for wide range of products, events, services, and transportation practices. You will help persuade sustainability officers to adopt carbon reduction strategies, including carbon-free product certification, carbon offsets, and customer check-offs.

Tasks will include extensive phone calling, message development, writing proposals and marketing materials, networking, in-person solicitations, promotional launches, representing Carbonfund.org at events and meetings, systematic stewardship and creative engagement of partners. You will be expected to calculate carbon footprints, using simple-to-understand tools, and to provide other support in building relationships with current and prospective partners.

The position requires a professional, dynamic personality who can meet deadlines and be results oriented. An entrepreneurial attitude, business acumen, and comfort working in a fast paced environment are essential. You will be expected to support and contribute to various organizational needs as they arise.

Requirements
• 3+ years experience in business development, marketing, sales, or development
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business or Communications
• Knowledge or ability to quickly learn climate change issues
• Knowledge of the energy and/or climate sector
• Excellent organizational, writing and editing skills
• Excellent public speaking and phone communication skills
• Experience running or leading campaigns or initiatives a plus
• MS Office req., Excel, Word; Experience with using databases a plus
• A passion for the environment and solving our climate crisis
